New wrap for my DJ cargo van

I have been in the DJ business for about 13 years now. Back in 2011, I decided to invest in a used cargo van to transport my DJ equipment. Prior to that year, I rented U-Hauls every time I had a party. It was tiring and annoying to say the least. I needed to load and unload my equipment twice for every single party and wake up early the following morning in order to return the U-Haul.

The worst part was actually paying for the U-Haul rental; it was taking a substantial part of my profit. However renting U-Haul was the best solution I had at the time. Prior to renting U-Haul, I used to borrow pick up trucks from everybody. My friends all let me borrow their pick up trucks. But in order to establish my business I couldn't rely on friends for transportation, I needed my own.

Buying my first cargo van was phase 1. I needed a reliable van where I could store my equipment, protect it from the weather and transport it across Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC. I drove my first cargo van for three years and five months, but sold it because it wasn’t as reliable as I thought it will be.

Phase 2 started in October 2014 when I purchased my current van. The investment was bigger but I was up to the challenge. My new cargo van didn’t leak oil, it ran smooth all the time and it was better on gas mileage. It is also 4" lower than the old one, that actually enhances the look of the 24" wheels I installed.

I have been driving the new cargo van for over two years now and received many compliments for the way it looks. People tell me all the time they like the rims. A guy at a McDonald’s drive thru once asked me “Who Puts Rims on a Cargo Van?”.... I said to myself this guy.

I was getting many looks on my cargo van but I was not capitalizing in the marketing potential. That led me into Phase 3.

One day in July 2016 I was driving around Ellicott City Md., when I saw an SUV with a custom full wrap. The wrap was an advertisement for a sign company. I called them shortly and within a week I had an appointment. They gave me an estimate and promise to install my logo and create letters for the van. I called two more companies within Maryland but none of them returned my phone calls. While browsing for car wrap designs on Instagram, I found @Montrowraps. They are a small company out of Newark, NJ. I contacted them via Instagram and within a day the owner responded. After explaining what I wanted to do, He was excited to work with me and really liked my cargo van.

It was like a Latin connection, Montro as people call him, is originally from Dominican Republic. As you all know I was born and raised in Panama. After receiving the estimate, we immediately got into the designing process. He created an entire design with new letters and a galactic background. I also provided my official logo in High Resolution. We went through four different designs but the one you see now was definitely the best one.

It took many hours to install the wrap (over 32 hours to be exact), hard work, craftsmanship, knowledge, dedication, expertise and skills.

It really looks amazing. I can't even find words to express my gratitude to @montrowraps for the incredible workmanship and the long hours he spent working on my van. The van is like my business card on wheels. A lady at a party told her husband to take a photo of my van in order to keep my information. People stare at the van when I drive it on the highway and it turns people heads when I drive around town. I hope those eyes turn into potential customers one day. At least that is the goal.
